Rly attacker booked for murder bid

The Dombivli GRP arrested a
20year-old man, Jamal Khan, for pushing a senior citizen off a Kasara
fast train on Friday night. The accused is a Dharavi resident. The
GRP booked him for attempt to murder and also charged him under the
Railway Act for travelling in a coach meant for handicapped and ailing
people.He was on Saturday produced in the Kalyan GRP court and sent to
police custody .
Sources said the accused expressed remorse about the incident.
The senior citizen, Nandkumar Joshi (60), had complained about Khan's
misbehaviour before being pushed out of the compartment for handicapped
people be tween Dombivli and Thakurli stations.
The GRP said Khan was a tailor and was suffering losses in his business.
On Friday , Khan was to board a train from Kalyan station to go to his native place in Kolkata.
He boarded the Kasara-CST local from Dadar and wh en it neared Do mbivli he had a dis pute with Joshi, a peon in the Thane court and resident of Maharal village.
GRP officials said Joshi was near the footboard, where lug gage placed by Khan incon venienced him. Joshi claimed that he told Khan to move the bag, but Khan got into an argument and abused him. When some commuters and a police constable in the compartment intervened, an angry Khan pushed Joshi out, the police said. The GRP said Joshi survived as the train was moving slowly .
Some commuters pulled the chain and the constable jumped out to help Joshi.The police control room was alerted and he was taken to hospital. Joshi, who has high blood pressure and diabetes, is said to be out of danger.
